This firm was set up by a young entrepreneur who saw the opportunity to provide web site development and support services to companies who wanted to make better use of this medium. Two Ditton consultants worked with him using one of the government's support schemes for new businesses.
The initial problems that needed to be addressed were the definition of the services that were being offered and the marketing of them to properly targeted sectors. Several good contracts were won and a team of technical specialists was assembled to meet the resultant workload. When a company in a complementary business area was identified as a potential acquisition candidate, the Ditton consultants carried out a due diligence study and also assisted during further new product licensing negotiations.
The Ditton consultants continued to carry out regular mentoring visits to the company, during which monthly financial reporting procedures were introduced and a number of organisational and planning issues were addressed.
