A Ditton client had devised an Internet-based quotation system for use by the print industry and its customers. This would provide these customers with a rapid means of obtaining prices for different types of printed media, without requiring considerable time and effort from the printers themselves. Ditton personnel worked with the client's proposed management team over a four month period in refining this concept and preparing the various elements of a business plan.
Some start-up funds were raised to allow a 'soft launch' of the product to be carried out with potential customers. The business plan was then modified in line with findings from this launch and main line funding was obtained from venture capitalists. The company grew rapidly over the next 18 months and obtained a number of 'blue chip' clients.
